Description

The mission of Sugar’s Gift™ Inc., is to provide hospice, euthanasia, and end-of-life veterinary services for terminally ill pets in their own homes. This allows them a relaxed, peaceful setting, where they have lived and been loved, to cross over the Rainbow Bridge with Comfort, Dignity, and Peace. We provide the euthanasia service, a private cremation, and home delivery by a local volunteer of the beloved pet's ashes in a hand made urn and other special items to celebrate their baby's life.

Mission Statement

Sugar’s Gift™ is the only non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization in the country whose mission is to help terminally ill pets cross over the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity, and peace. We help those whose pets are unable to be moved, pet owners who are homebound, and those pet owners who simply want their Little Angels to pass at home where they have lived and have been loved.

Programs

Our main program that we need the majority of help funding is helping our beloved pets cross the Rainbow Bridge from home. We anticipate that in Solano County, we will help 2-3 pets per week with in-home euthanasias and subsequent private cremations. Our budget takes into account the revenue needed to fund those as well as 4 workshops, one per quarter, as described in the next paragraph.

We would also like funding to provide education to pet owners in a workshop setting to help them understand the benefits of Pet Trusts in their Estate Planning Documents. It is our intention to give them the information they need to recognize how impactful their written last wishes can be to the future of their beloved pet -- either positively or negatively. We prefer in-person workshops with follow ups.

Accomplishments

1. We were recognized by Global Giving, our online fundraising partner who has over 5,000 organizations they help, as #6 in their Top 10 Non-Profits Committed to Impact in 2018.

2. We are partnering with Argus Institute and Colorado State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital as their in-home euthanasia organization to help their cancer patients, the subjects of special studies for health issues all of the Larimer County pets who need us to help them cross the Rainbow Bridge from home.

Funding Goals

For 2020, we need to fund 2-3 pets per week in Solano County for Rainbow Crossings. Each euthanasia costs us between 818 and 1,136, depending on the location and the various costs of the veterinarian and the crematory. We use $1,000 as the average cost per Rainbow Crossing. For 2020, our total funding need is $130,000 for 2.5 euthanasias per week to be fully funded, between individual donations and Grants.
