Description

Ensuring a safe, productive place for kids to spend out-of-school time is vital. Our goal at The Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club is to inspire our youth to believe in themselves and to enhance their lives through the programs brought to them by our compassionate staff. We provide our young people with life-changing programs that develop a desire for learning and we believe that every young person deserves a great future.

Mission Statement

To inspire and enable the youth of our community, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

Programs

Passport to Manhood is an evidence-based program that a combination of staff and volunteer mentors will offer for credit at Country High School. This represents a targeted effort to engage boys/young men in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership, and positive behavior. It also includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community.

Summer Brain Gain helps prevent youth from falling behind and losing academic skills while school is out. Youth engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, group work, and a final project or production. As a result, kids develop higher-order thinking skills while staying on track for the coming school year.

Accomplishments

Our focus to serve middle school youth to support their transition to high school yielded the opening of 2 Clubs on the middle school campuses. With the change of later start time with the middle school, we've been able to adjust and offer morning Club and after school Club.

We've also partnered again with the school district to offer Club programs at 4 Title I schools (schools that predominantly serve children that qualify for free and reduced lunch) tripling the number of children served.
