Description

Choice in Aging was established in 1949 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation. Choice in Aging has two adult day centers in Contra Costa County plus three other programs that serve more than six hundred people each year in Contra Costa, Napa, and Solano counties. We are also proud to offer information and referral resources to the local community, as well as support services to caregivers & family members of frail elders and persons with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create opportunities where people can learn, grow, and age independently with dignity and community.

Programs

1. We would love to fund a Caregiver Retreat event in Solano County. The Caregiver Retreat would allow caregivers a day to relax, laugh, and enjoy themselves. The cost of this would also cover respite care for their loved ones while the caregivers can be on their own for the day.

2. We would like to create a discretionary fund for our Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP). This would include money to purchase things like electric chair lifts and blood pressure monitors for frail vulnerable seniors who live alone in their homes.

Accomplishments

1. Being able to grow our caregiver support program out to Solano County. We hosted our very first Caregiver Retreat in Solano County this past June and we can't wait to host another one and reach more caregivers in Solano County to provide them with respite and relaxation.
2. We were named the 14th Assembly District's Nonprofit of the Year this year by Assemblymember Tim Grayson. It was an honor to be recognized for the work we have been doing for our local community for the past 70 years.

Funding Goals

For the Caregiver Retreat, our fundraising goal is $5,000. For the MSSP discretionary fund, our fundraising goal is $6,850.
