Description

Vallejo Symphony Orchestra presents performances of symphonic music of the highest possible artistic excellence for the citizens of Vallejo and Solano County.

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Vallejo Symphony Orchestra is to present performances of symphonic music of the highest possible artistic excellence for the citizens of Vallejo and Solano County; to cultivate and nurture the appreciation and enjoyment of classical music in people of all ages; and to serve and shape the musical, cultural and educational interests of the people of Vallejo and Solano County.

Programs

Program 1: The February 11, 2019 Schools Concerts

Over 800 students will attend a performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, with a prize-winning young musician as soloist. The Music Director will present historical and musical background via PowerPoint. Our goals in this project are: 1) to provide a diverse group of 800 underserved middle- and high-school students and their teachers with an educational, inspiring concert experience in a “real” concert hall.—not a school all-purpose room; 2) to make students feel like full-fledged members of their community who have a right to enjoy two of Vallejo’s greatest artistic assets: VSO and the Empress Theatre.

Program 2: Vallejo Symphony Featured Soloists

VSO prides itself on attracting the best soloists it can to feature for our audiences. Most are world-travelled performers and have successful recording contracts.

Accomplishments

 - Vallejo Symphony moved its performance venue to the Empress Theatre in 2017, and has performed for five sold out houses since. The public also sounded its approval by increasing our subscription level by 235%, which does not appear to be peaking yet.

 - Vallejo Symphony, under Marc Taddei's leadership, performed its first full orchestra concerts for students in twenty years in April 2018. Eight hundred students from four cities were invited to see and hear Mozart's Symphony No. 41 performed live on the Empress stage.
